Making Pain…

This is a quick illustration to break down the car hit video from this past weekend…
(watch here)

the key to this is that the camera never moves. and timing is everything with the reactions of the subjects…

shot # 1…establishing the hit point and laying down the green screen…in this shot i just had to make sure my body was not off the screen…

Shot # 2…the cameras stays still, green screen removed, and at the time that the car drives over the “hit point” is where the boys react to pain!

Shot # 3…everything is pieced together in editing…I line up based on where my body starts reacting to the hit…then I place “pin points” on my greened out body so that I can bend it to form to the front of the car…add a little motion blur, some falling glass, and sound FX….and there you go!

Winter Air…

Had so much fun shooting and editing this “mini trailer” for Nick and Heidi’s wedding day…It was shot fully on the Canon 5d Mark 2 with a 50mm 1.2 lens. After Effects and some costume color correction was used…I stuck with blue coloring on the shots where they walk alone until they find each other and then their is color!

American Idols

I tried some new techniques in the American Idols trailer…these were the original 2 pictures used in the video to simulate opening and closing of the paper…I used a green sheet specifically so that I could put her fingers over top of whatever composition I had showing on the paper as if she was holding it…I added a white solid underneath to look like the original paper from the logo and the green sheet turned into that…

Fanny Crosby Story…

Had an awesome time shooting/editing this beautiful story…thanks to Samantha for the poetic script…Just like Fanny would like it!
